Marina was planning to attend a New Year's Eve party at Toby Deem’s house, but an unexpected encounter with her ex-boyfriend, Douglas Jay Lockhart (D.J.), changed the course of that evening. Witnesses say Marina seemed upset as D.J. tried to convince her to attend a different party. After talking to D.J., she accepted a ride from Brian Pearson and was never seen again.
