He was 18-years-old. It was Father’s Day 1978. He was on his way to a concert.
Steven Hicks never made it.
In this episode of Twisted Crimes with Chris and Heather, we travel to Bath Township, Ohio, and stand outside the childhood home of Jeffrey Dahmer, the quiet suburban house where his first murder took place.
Before the headlines.
Before Milwaukee.
Before seventeen victims.
There was Steven.
Steven Mark Hicks was a recent high school graduate who loved music, friends, and freedom. On June 18, 1978, he was hitchhiking to a concert at Chippewa Lake Park when he got a ride from a stranger his own age. That stranger was Jeffrey Dahmer.
What happened inside that house would mark the beginning of one of America’s most infamous serial killer cases.
In this video, we cover:
The early warning signs in Dahmer’s childhood
His disturbing fascination with dead animals
The isolation, alcoholism, and behaviors classmates called “doing a Dahmer”
The day Steven disappeared
What Steven’s family endured during thirteen years of not knowing
And the heartbreaking truth revealed after Dahmer’s 1991 arrest
But this story is not just about a killer.
It’s about Steven Hicks. A son, a brother, and a young man whose life was stolen before it truly began.
We believe victims deserve to be remembered for who they were, not just how they died.
This video was filmed on location in Akron and Bath Township, Ohio
